New Obstacle

For a while we've been stuck in rooms. Never allowed to roam free throughout the house to claw at things as we like.

Today, something changed. Mom let us out to roam around downstairs. When I tried to go upstairs, however, I found something barring my way!

What the heck is this thing?!
Velvet: Maybe there's another way around it, Lil! How about over there?

Nope. This thing is blocking the whole thoroughfare of the stairs! Not even an opening at the bottom to wedge through... I'll have to get sneaky with this...

First I'll distract mom by making her think I'm content to be down here. I'll roll over here and play with the stairs. Look at me poking my paws through. Aren't I cute? Uh, is this working? Are you distracted yet?

Velvet: Lil! You're doing it all wrong. I'm the princess of cute. It's just my thing! You have to look up at them with big, wide eyes and they say awwww and turn to mush.

True, but then they pick you up and you really can't go anywhere. I want to go upstairs, Velvet! This barrier tells me I'm not allowed, so I want upstairs all the more badly.

Velvet: Well, you know what you have to do. now! Do it now!
*looks up cutely* Hi, mom! You're looking well. Aren't I adorable? Would you... uh, move this barrier so I can claw the upstairs furniture??
Velvet: No! Abort! Abort! You're doing it wrong!

Shucks, mom isn't buying it. I'll just have to find some other way around this. Maybe I can just jump over it if I get a running start...

Life of a hunter

The Mighty Hunter stalks her prey...

Lilly is unaware as I approach from down wind. I take the high ground, so as to surprise her.

Suddenly, I spot a better place from which to hunt. A *safer* place.

It's probably for the best. The prey senses my retreat.

Only mom can give me shelter!

Hide me! Pweeeeze!

I waited under mom's leg for many hours. Then I grew bold, or restless... either way, it can be a dangerous combination.

I moved from mother's protection and under the lounge chair, determined to reclaim my role of hunter!

Velvet! Get out from under there!

New Perch

Mom's boyfriend came over. While he was bent over paying attention to my sister, I took the opportunity to jump up on his back. Humans make great perches when they get into the right position.

After my defeat, I needed revenge. Sure, I was comfy on the bed and slept for many hours, but that doesn't absolve Lilly of the fact that she humiliated me!

So I crouched by the bed and waited...

I got bored after a while, so I ventured out to see if I could find my sister.

She was being sneaky!!

I doubled back and caught her by the bed. I would not let her best me this time!

The fight that ensued was epic and terrible. I emerged victorious and I'm sure that Lilly will not be able to exact revenge on me after this. Not with my newly-gained super, flying powers!

Tale of bravery and valour

I was just walking across mom's bed one day...

Blissfully unaware of the enemy hiding... waiting. Her camouflage was nearly perfect. There was no way for me to know she was waiting... for me!

Her attack was swift and precise.
I fought back with great courage and strength, like David against a mighty Goliath, Velvet was half-again my size!

[validity of this statement has not yet been measured]

I pushed her over the edge of the bed, but her tenacity was inhuman! She locked into my paws and pulled me down to the ground. Stunned, I landed on the soft, carpeted flooring. Velvet was nowhere in sight. I realized I had to act fast to regain my footing before the gained the upper-paw.

Suddenly, she attacked! We wrestled for many long minutes, all the while mom did nothing to break us apart. She kept pointing the silver device at us, occasionally making it flash.

In the end, I emerged victorious. Velvet was defeated upon the grounds of mom's bedroom. I cast Velvet's body to the comfy, sleepy bed of the desk where she did not move. No, I don't think she was sleeping, but she might have been...
Yes, it was truly an epic battle, from which I emerged with many epic loots and tales of adventure.

Sleeping is an artform. One that Velvet is in the process of perfecting.

Anyone can sleep, but very few can sleep and attract attention and "cooing" from humans while exerting zero effort. Benefits of this include: being cuddled, extra food, better bedding (upon which to sleep more and attract more attention).

We have perfected the art of sleeping.

Sometimes, Velvet and I drift apart while we're sleeping. We lose valuable heat this way and it's not nearly as comfortable.

We have solved the problem by our patented neck-locking technology.

We just rest our heads on each other until our necks are wrapped around each other in a comfortable embrace. We'll never be apart again.

We were just sleeping on our perch.

Suddenly, my spidey sense was going off! There was something outside. Something potentially delicious!

Holy crap! What is that?

It's a massive pidgin! What's it doing all the way out here? Mom says that those live in the city, but aren't so BIG!

That bird is bigger than me, mom! What are we gonna do?

You... let him at the birdfeeders? He won't leave, now!

What? He's just like a big chicken? Hmm, that does add a new perspective to it for me. Think I'll dream about yummies.

Mom: I don't know where that bird came from, but he's been hanging out for a while in the backyard. No worries, Velvet and Lilly won't get out to get him. They'll get their tinned food and pidgie will get his birdseed.

Mom's brother came to visit. Even though he's allergic to us, he liked playing with us.

This big mouse was always on the floor. I liked biting it, but when he dragged it around and let me chase it, I knew I liked him immediately. He even lifted it into the air and gave me a challenge to catch it!

Mom said we could sleep in her room!

No more bathroom bedtime for us! There are more things to explore in her room, like DRAWERS!!

I nommed on the straw because it is hollow light-weight and made of FUN!

So much fun...

Velvet wanted in on my straw action. I said NO, but she insisted and took it from me. She keeps eating, so she's getting bigger.

So I just washed myself while she tried to taunt me with the stolen!straw.

I pretended not to be interested and went to explore under mom's dresser.

I then remembered that there was something better than a straw in our box.

FOIL BALL TIME!!

But she waited a looooong time, because I don't give up so easily! She has the straw, I have the ball. I win!

I had overheard mom talking to her mom about the "cat house". I didn't know what she was talking about until today!

It smelled like another cat, even though they cleaned it well. Oh well, Velvet and I were immediately drawn to it. I mean, we can claw it all we want, and there's even a high perch where I can... I dunno, sit and watch things?

While I was exploring the inside, Velvet was checking the outside.

She got really pushy!

So I hopped on the roof to see what the deal was with THAT.

Then Velvet started to go into the house, and I like to keep an eye on her cuz she isn't very athletic (like me) so she might get hurt climbing places...

The scratching post was awesome.

I had a good stretch. Yep, yep, good stretch. Nothing bad could happen now...

I can hear the strange sounds coming from beyond my vision. I half-expect a large, wooden rabbit to be wheeled out for me to bring into my fortress.

Doing what we do best

Mom's mom brings us into the TV room every now and then.

It's great because it's full of big, squishy things that we can lie on, and even dig our claws into. I like chasing Velvet around, and sometimes she even surprises me if I'm not looking.

Sure, I may be a perfect athlete, but I like her to think she's good, too. I mean, I am her big sister. I have to keep her self-esteem up.

Otherwise, she will just laze around like this.

And then mom spends all her time photographing VELVET when she should be taking pictures of ME!. I'm the athlete! Where's my attention?

Food Tiems

We are fed mushy food twice a day - once in the morning, once in the evening - and we get all the crunchies and water we could want. It's a pretty sweet deal.

We drink a LOT of water. Of course, to get fed, we have to do the whole cute-thing first.

Velvet is selling the cute like a pro.

It may have been cute, but we were actually having fun playing with our foil toy.

I got the ball! I was so happy. Velvet was so jealous.

Mushy food warmed in the microwave for us. We have it too-good.

At first we didn't know what was happening, so we kept playing. I mean, it's not like mom told us what was going on. "Hey guys, the food is out here, come and get it! Guys???"

We share, even though I keep insisting I get my own bowl.

Velvet tries to muscle me out of the way! That's not fair. She may have been the runt, but she's bigger than me, now! I need to keep up my strength to continue to beat her at soccer!

After lunch/dinner (linner) I played under the table.

When the chairs are all pushed in, I can really get going dragging myself along by the posts.

After all the excitement, we were all tuckered out. Pooped!

Kitchen Life

We've got a routine. Eat and sleep. When we're not running around, we're sleepy kitties.

Mom's mom took this picture. Velvet was sleeping very cutely, so I climbed onto the chair and nuzzled underneath her. I like kitten-piles.

I like to talk. Not for any reason, usually just to hear myself and dazzle at how awesome I sound.

Mom's mom is a hard nut to crack when it comes to giving extra foods. I know there must be treats and yummies here for me, but she's not budging!

After operation treat get failed, we came down to mom's room. She was on the computer, but Velvet found a place to sleep where she could be close to mom.

At first, I was happy just sleeping beside the printer. I slept where the mouse should have gone. Mom had to adjust how she used her computer so I would be comfortable. Haha!

Eventually, I thought Velvet looked comfy on the printer, so I muscled my way in there, too.

First time outside

We finally got to explore the little patio that mom and her male human friend put together for us. The first couple of days, I didn't like going out, but after a while, Velvet and I were having fun out there.

We explored our surroundings.

I'll bet I could fit my head through there...

Velvet is sure she can fit her head through there.

I was exploring the perimiter of my cage, looking for weaknesses in the fencing. I found it!

When mom was watching Velvet, I slipped through the hole in the fence. Luckily, I'm still small enough to fit! Another month or two and I don't know if I could. Not with all the yummies they are feeding me here!

Mom had to drop her little, silver, image-recording thing, put Velvet in her room and then run around to another door to get me! I had such fun!

Once I was recaptured, it was Velvet's turn to make a break for it.

While it is fun at our new home, it's always good to keep mom & mom's mom on their toes. In hindsight, it may not have been wise to show how easily we can escape. Now they will sure up the perimeter and remove that one opening for us. Oh well, I suppose the outside world can't be that great. I mean, where else will we find two mushy food meals a day? Oh, and all these shiny toys they have for us, not to mention the cozy blue blanket in the closet!

You'd think they just put this in here explicity for us to enjoy! Foolish humans, devoting all their time and space to kittens. Don't they know we'll take over the world someday?

To distract them from this fact, I lied on my side and chewed on some shoelaces. We couldn't let them know our plan!

Velvet pretended to watch me chew up mom's shoes. She's good at the cute act.

Later, Velvet and I wrestled to secure our "cute" status, as if it wasn't secure already!

When I grow up, I wanna be a LOLcat at I can has cheezburger.
I suppose my grammar will have to degrade significantly before that could occur, though. Too bad, those kitties seem to know how to have some good lols.

Life on a chair

Today I spent a lot of time on a chair. It was a comfy chair and I cuddled in with Velvet. I love spending time in the kitchen, especially since that is where those magical foil balls are kept!

I cuddled in with Velvet, since she's so soft and fluffy. She makes a great pillow.

My black spots aren't so black! Mom says she can see some tabby striping coming through on my black patches. She says that makes me more special :3

Human mom gave me this toy. It's shiny and silver and lots of fun. I'm a soccer star! I'm very good at keeping it away from the ball-eating-monster (hutch) and if it gets too close, I pick it up in my teeth. I'm such a smart girl.

Waking up is FUN!

We woke up!

We hung out in the kitchen!!

We played with foil balls, but most importantly...

WE SLEPT IN OUR COMFY, COMFY BOX!

Mom was at work for most of the day. When she came home, she brought the guy from earlier with her. I will call him fluffy face because he has an awesome goatee. I will nuzzle it someday...

But for the meantime, I will sleep on his lap!

I only sleep on laps if I want to. nobody can hold me down, or I will mew so pathetically that people say awww and let me down. Bwahahaha!

I would have been adventuring, but I was too comfortable. Velvet has no shame.

They made a cocoon for me out of blankets! I like the warmth =^_^=

Velvet is such a diva who likes having her picture taken. Here I am, trying to gnaw on her, but she keeps looking at the camera all cute-like.

There was one time where I was sleeping. So comfy! I was dreaming about eating, too. I felt something on my throat, but I refused to wake up. REFUSE! The dream was so delicious.
It turns out that Velvet was gnawing on my neck!
It hurt, but I will not wake up if I am dreaming of yummies!

New Home!

Omg, human-mom came to get us today! The ride back home was scary. There was a strange person in the back seat that kept trying to talk to us through the carrier door, but all I cared about was the sound of the traffic.

Humans make a lot of noise! I'm just a kitteh and need a bit more consideration! :P

I was pulling at the cage door and mewing all I could. Velvet was no help at all! I didn't like this. My first adventure was scary. It was hot and I might have had to pee, but I was too scared to know. I was being KIDNAPPED from my cat-mom!!

When we finally got to my new home, I was anxious to get out of the carrier.

But I didn't like the feel of the linoleum beneath my footsies! Velvet wouldn't even come out of the cage.

My human-mom and her boyfriend were sitting in front of us, trying to trick me into coming out. I wasn't going to fall for it, though! I wasn't born yesterday! I was born a few weeks ago!!

Eventually the boyfriend took me downstairs to human-mom's room. The foor was soft and Velvet ventured out of the carrier this time. I liked this place a bit better, especially when they opened the window so I could hear the world outside.

Eventually we went to sleep in the closet. It was a real adventure climbing in and trying to find a nice place to sleep on the backpacks. If all places in this new house are this comfy, I think I'll like it here!

Velvet was attacking me on the bed.

A mysterious object appeared on the floor! We had to investigate.

We are excellent hunters.

Chilling with the boyfriend. He seemed pretty cool and laid-back.

Human-mom likes to sit in front of the computer a lot. Velvet wanted to keep her company, and I have to admit it was a pretty comfortable place to sleep.

Unfortunately, my bum slid off her lap! Mom caught me in her bathrobe and hung me there in the makeshift hammock. i liked it. Made me think of sleeping on the side of a mountain.

We hung out with our mom's mom for a while. I can't say I enjoyed being held like this, but sometimes my eyes get so sleepy, it's nice to have someone to sleep against.

Velvet was grinning the whole time. She knows something I don't know maybe? Maybe she had a plan to poop and pee behind the couch! I wasn't going to get in on her shenannegans, though. If she can be more of a shit-disturber than me, then maybe I can prove that I'm the awesome cat that I am.

The only thing I have to compete with are Velvet's feet. They're so furry! Her pads are black with black fur coming between her toes. The tops are furry with extra grey fur coming above that. Her feet are big, and so are her ears. I think she's going to be a big kitty.

I will be Tiger Lilly: lithe beastie and awesome athlete.

They made us our own bed and put lots of fluffy pillows in them.

Intro to the kitties

The whole ordeal started when our mom was a stray. Yes, our cat-mom. Before we were born, there was an awesome chance that we would be living on the street instead of having domestic adventures with our new, human mother and her family.

Instead, she was picked up by our human-mom's best friend who then gave her to another friend of hers. She didn't know that we existed then. They called cat-mom Sammy. At the vet they found out we were living in her tummy.
It turns out that it was an exciting time for all the humans involved. For us? Well, it was warm and squishy.

Eventually we were born and were just balls of fluffy fluff.
Human people were making these high-pitched cooing sounds over our heads and lifting us to take our pictures. It was annoying. I hate being picked up!

Time passed, I guess, at least, that's what human-mom says! Cat-mom's milk was yummy and we got bigger.

Human-mom doesn't want me to know this, but she was thinking of getting my other sister, Falaffel! I had to do my best to make myself as endearing as possible.

I did my best to look cute. I reminded human-mom of her other cat, Banshee. She loved Banshee, so I'd have to do my best to be just like him.

My sister, Velvet, was the runt. She's very fluffy and human-mom's boyfriend called dibs on her the moment he found out she existed.
